Autism Awareness Month
April is Autism Awareness Month!
April is Autism Awareness month. At Children's Specialized Hospital, a main focus is behavioral and developmental disorders. Autism is a complex neurobiological disorder characterized by a combination of challenges in communication, difficulty with social interactions, repetitive behavior(s), and restricted interest(s). Autism is found within every racial, ethnic, geographic and socioeconomic group. With a current prevalence estimate of approximately 1 in 68 children in the United States having an Autism Spectrum Disorder, more individuals with autism are likely to seek inclusive and encouraging community connections. Increased understanding of autism will help encourage positive, meaningful community involvement.
April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day. The color blue is used to bring awareness. We are encouraging you to wear blue and post our Instagram Story graphic on April 2nd to raise awareness for World Autism Awareness Day. Below, you will find 62 blue balloons in honor of the 62 kids that enter a Children's Miracle Network Hospital. Click or hover on each balloon to learn some new facts about StevensTHON, Children's Specialized Hospital, Miracle Network Dance Marathon, and Autism!
